You are What You Eat: Achieving a Natural Balance
Everything you eat or drink influences your body. Your digestive system breaks food and drink down into tiny bits and either absorbs or eliminates them. The bits that enter your bloodstream serve as the building blocks for skin, bones, organs, blood, hormones, neurotransmitters enzymes, glucose your body uses for fuel, and so on. Good health grows in nature. When we thrive in nature, we feel better and healthier. When we rely on real food, take time to move and care for our bodies, spend time in nature and use plants and herbs as our primary form of medicine, we’re connected and joyful.
Feeling out of balance? Stop the vicious cycle! Empower yourself to make a lasting change in one of our Bodyworks Nutrition Programs. Our programs empower you to listen to the wisdom of your body and give you the tools to care for yourself naturally.

The Bodyworks Nutrition Team
Natasha discovered the path of holistic health after feeling helpless during her grandparents battle with cancer. During that time, she spent countless hours by their side at doctors appointments and hospital stays where she noticed that only one thing was being addressed: symptoms. By carefully watching. she uncovered that healing symptoms is just the tip of the iceberg. For true healing to occur, an individual must consider not only physical symptoms, but get to the root of the dis-ease. This includes a close look at nutrition, as well as addressing the whole person and their stress levels, emotional imbalance
s, and spiritual fitness. This new awareness led Natasha to leave her corporate job and study yoga and holistic nutrition so that she could be of service to those who felt confused and frightened by lack of knowledge about true health.
Natasha completed 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Programs through Corepower Yoga in Denver, Colorado and at Yogaview in Chicago, Illinois. She administered an Affiliate 200 Hour Teacher Training Program with Rolf Gates, world-renowned yoga teacher and author of “Meditations from the Mat” and “Meditations on Intention and Being” at Bodyworks Studio. Natasha also trained with Laura Kupperman in her program, Yoga For Survivors, to teach Yoga For Cancer. She is currently in the final stages of completing her 300 hour Yoga Teacher Certification at Pranayoga Institute of Holistic Health.
Natasha combines her knowledge of yoga, Ayurveda and holistic nutrition to meet her yoga students and nutrition clients where they are, with compassion and understanding. She is a Certified Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and believes that each person is uniquely individual, and beautiful.
As a mom of young boys, I understand living life from a chaotic place and how that wreaks havoc on our own self-care. I love being a sounding board for others to uncover their own truth about what their needs, desires and goals are. Once we determine those, it’s just a matter of refining habits so that our values and actions align. Achieving balance is elusive. Balance is constantly refining and redefining our life so that we feel empowered and happy inside of the chaos.
Amanda’s journey for better health started as a young teenager. She suffered from constant migraine headaches, digestive issues, fatigue, depression, and many other ailments that left her highly dissatisfied with her quality of life. amanda-hAfter going to multiple doctors, getting various tests done, and trying many different medications, Amanda decided she had enough of all of it. The pills weren’t working for her and she was experiencing a lot of side effects. She decided to change her approach as she felt there HAD to be a better way to get well. Slowly, she started drinking more water, cutting out soda, eliminating all medications and within 6 months, Amanda’s headaches had dwindled away, her digestion was better, and she had more energy. This was just the very beginning of what would turn into Amanda’s number one passion in life- natural, healthy living for healing and quality of life. From there, she discovered organic food, natural supplements, yoga, farmer’s markets, fermented foods, salt lamps, aromatherapy, massage therapy, chiropractor, energy therapy, affirmations, and so much more that have become essential to her health.
Amanda earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences with a concentration in Health Promotion and a minor in Nutrition from Indiana University Kokomo. She has worked at a local health food store in Kokomo, IN called The Sunspot Natural Market for over 4 years now. She has also volunteered and worked at the Kokomo Downtown Farmer’s Market for 4 years. Her personal and professional experience has provided a foundation of knowledge for her and she loves sharing her knowledge with others!
“Quality of life is so important to me. I used to feel so limited and confined by my health issues and it affected all aspects of my life. I have learned a lot over the years and I am so passionate about helping others discover this world of natural living that encompasses mind, body, and spirit. I believe there is so much more to health than just taking a pill. Let’s figure out what’s causing these issues! Let’s use good food, nature, herbs, and natural therapies FIRST! This way of living has changed my life and so many others that I know.”
What people are saying about our programs:
My decision to participate in the six-month program will forever be one of my best life choices. I feel like my eyes have been opened to a whole new level of “well-ness” that I can achieve in all areas of my life…physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I have always been a generally healthy and fit person but I can truly say that I am currently the happiest and healthiest that I have ever been! And, as a mother of two young children, I know that the things I am now imparting on my sons is something that will benefit them their entire lives.”
I wrote the above testimonial about six years ago after I completed the Bodyworks six-month nutrition program. It is amazing to me to reflect back on that time in my life…to see how far I had already come. As I read those words, I can remember exactly how I felt when I wrote them. It was like a switch had been turned on, and I was being exposed to a way of being that I didn’t even know existed. I was happy and excited and I wanted to tell everyone about it so that they could experience it to.
Fast forward about six years. To see the way that it has impacted my whole family…myself, my husband and our two boys….is incredible. Do we eat perfect all the time? Of course not. But I am seriously so proud of us…my husband, my boys, myself. The changes began with me just over six years ago. And then my family slowly began to embrace them. And now? When it comes to food/nutrition, we do not even resemble the family that we were when our boys were infants/toddlers. Our boys (who are now 9 and 12) understand food/nutrition and the impact that it has on their WHOLE body. As their parents, we guide them…but we are also teaching them to make their own choices. And they are kids, so sometimes they overindulge when they are someplace that they have access to “junk” that we don’t typically have in our home. But the really cool part? They UNDERSTAND how and why it impacts them in the way that it does (not just physically but emotionally, behaviorally, etc.). And they have the KNOWLEDGE (and the desire) they need in order to bring their whole body back in to balance. I think often of the gift that will be to them throughout their lives…to really understand their body…how it works and what it needs in order to be truly healthy…and how they can use food to achieve that. As a yoga teacher, I’ve seen how important it is for our students to gain that knowledge as well….to know how to care for their WHOLE self….mind, BODY and spirit. Having a great physical yoga practice is always a good thing….but if you stop there you are missing out on the opportunity to be the absolute best version of yourself.
Six years ago when I inquired about doing the six month nutrition program I started to waiver….and I had a list of reasons why I shouldn’t do it…time, money, etc. I remember Natasha saying to me “There will never be a perfect time”. I am SO grateful for the gentle nudge that she gave me. My life…and health…is immeasurably better because of that decision. I want EVERYONE to be able to experience that.
When Natasha first began the nutritional coaching, my thoughts were that the idea sounded nice, but was not for me. I thought that since I exercised (somewhat regularly) ate healthy (sometimes) and had an appropriate work/life balance (LOL) that the counseling would be a waste of time and money. Months went by and I resisted signing up. Then Summer 2012 hit, in an effort to create a full and enriching summer experience for my school age daughter, I drove around the state of Indiana driving her to camps, classes and activities. Dinner became an afterthought and French fries the daily vegetable. I was tired, run down and felt stretched too thin.
My moment of awareness came as the new school year began and I was packing my daughter’s lunch. As I packed her lunch, fixed breakfast for two kids, made coffee and called the electrician, I looked down at my daughter’s lunch. A lunch able, Capri sun, and a bag of chips. Nothing homemade, everything filled with chemicals. My son walked by with a cookie and I struggled to remember what time the electrician was coming even though I talked to him 5 minutes ago. Did I need more coffee? Or did I need a total change?
I approached the counseling with concern. Would I be eating kale 24/7? How does one even eat Kale? However, each session with Natasha focused on one idea. It had taken a lifetime to create my semi-unhealthy eating habits. They were not going to change in a 10 day juicing diet. The sessions with Natasha helped me make permanent changes to my diet and my lifestyle.
Planning menus out on the weekend? I was great at this, but I always failed to plan on what I was going to eat for lunch. Natasha helped me create simple salads that could be eaten all week.
Kids want to snack after school? Solution – Have carrots stick in the refrig!
Natasha helped me create healthy realistic menu schedules that took into account days I had to work late.
A year later, my family is eating healthy and I feel better. Yes, we still eat out sometimes and the kids still get French fries occasionally. However, when I feel that our diets or lives are spinning out of control and Taco bell is getting too much rotation in the dinner menu. I now know how to identify the problem and bring order back into our lives. Stop the running around, saying no to another activity and sitting down for a family dinner!
The price for counseling? Already made it back with a reduction of Health insurance premiums. My husband’s plan rewards people who eat healthy. By working with Natasha, exercising and eating healthy we save 50% in our health insurance premiums. So it was a win-win. We all want to eat healthy, lose weight and have more energy. But how? Diets don’t work, because at the end we all go back to how we were eating before. This is a lifestyle change. For the better.
