Feeling a bit nervous or intimidated at the thought of getting started? You’re not alone.
Trying something new is always a bit challenging but let us put your mind at ease.
Our staff and students are a very welcoming community. Bodyworks is a judgement free zone!
You don’t need to be able to touch your toes.
No special clothing is needed, just something comfortable, and no socks or shoes.
We have classes for every fitness level: from slow and gentle, to hot and vigorous.
If you have a yoga mat, bring it. Otherwise, we’ve got you covered!

We have two introductory classes that are great for new students:
New To Yoga Workshop
- learn breathing exercises designed to melt away your stress and tension
- build strength and balance with standing poses and a series of sun salutations
- end class with a guided relaxation to bring you into the deep calm of the present moment.
Leave feeling relaxed and flexible, yet energized and awake.
Foundations of Yoga Series

Other classes that are great for new students:
Perfect for beginners, anyone with specific health challenges or recovering from injuries, and anyone needing some extra rest and relaxation. You will practice gentle movement to enhance the energy flow in the body, and bring circulation and healing to the joints as well as the systems in the body. Experience deep relaxation through guided meditation deep breathing and somatic body awareness practices. Benefits include decreased pain and stress, increased energy, improved sleep, increased range of motion and strength and a greater sense of well-being. Especially good for stress, anxiety, fibromyalgia, arthritis, pain, cancer treatment or recovery, IBS, injury recovery or any condition needing some TLC.
Barre is a total body workout that utilizes a ballet barre to perform exercises designed to burn calories and build lean muscle. Set to energizing music, the class contains a body-mind component with aspects of the yoga practice and relaxation incorporated at the end of class. The workout is low-impact so you will be protecting your joints by avoiding any bouncing or jumping. It uses isometric movements to target and tone specific areas of the body, while raising your heart rate to encourage overall fitness.
Let go and indulge in an hour of gentle stretching and relaxation! Quiet your mind and surrender to the support of bolsters and blankets, while letting go of any stress you’ve stored in your body. Enjoy longer holds in hip openers and postures designed to release spinal tension. Candles, dim lights and peaceful music will lure you into the state of deep rest where healing occurs.
This class is the perfect marriage of movement and stillness. It opens with a slow flow series designed to warm-up the body, and calm the mind in preparation for the deep stretch experience of Yin Yoga.
Yin Yoga postures gently stretch the connective tissue that forms our joints. It supports the flow of chi through meridian pathways. Your breath will improve in quality and the mind will naturally relax. As the mind gets quiet, we discover an endless source of inspiration, healing and wisdom. Students are supported with careful instruction as they are guided through a sequence of floor asanas (postures), with emphasis on cultivating patience, using a slow approach and a careful transition, as each asana is held for 3-5 minutes. Modifications and customizations will be offered to everyone. It is a peaceful and therapeutic practice Be prepared to hold the stretch and surrender! (All levels welcome).
